Today's important news to note: The Cowboy Who Wasn't There has finally been published for the internet to see. My own chapter and a few of JP's can be viewed for free as sample chapters. Although it was against my intentions of having the book available only to Tektonics subscribers (what I'd consider sort of preaching to the choir), JP compiled the project himself, I merely contributed. Go out and get subscribed if you aren't already if you'd like to read the whole thing yourself, although I'm sure with time it may go onto Amazon.com or even into print (JP has no current intentions of it going into print at this time).
On other things, akakiwibear has returned from his blogger dormancy and has requested to be removed from the list of blog staff here at Debunking Loftus. I have respected his wishes and he has now been removed as a contributor to this blog. It is also worth noting that because akakiwibear made this public on his own blog, John determined that once akakiwibear was removed, he could once again comment on Debunking Christianity. I can only make that out as John trying to remove as much vocal opposition as possible, because as much opposed as this blog is to John, I still permit him to comment here.
Harry McCall has also returned in new form: That is, he has severed ties completely with Debunking Christianity because of John's overbearing narcissism. I have been considering the possibility of bringing him onboard to replace our old friend kiwi because McCall is a former DC member and can shed some light on things most of us here wouldn't even know about. Not to mention John's attempts at silencing opposition would be further thwarted. ;) McCall can accept or decline the informal invitation if he so chooses. In the event that McCall does join us, I am hoping that we might be able to bury the hatchet in areas where it has been most prominent, and we can all start on a new foot.
On other non-blogging related updates, Patrick Swayze, the star of "Ghost", "Roadhouse" and "Dirty Dancing" died yesterday after having fought a two year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Swayze knew he was dying and that his death was inevitably in the near-future, but nonetheless is it a tragic loss for the light of the world. R.I.P., Patrick (1952 - 2009).

Demagogue Mania
John's ego must have taken another hit for the worst. I've been occupied with some matters of schooling and will probably only contribute and update the blog on occassion, but J.P wrote me recently on a book project coming out soon that will be based on Loftus and serves as a compilation for why he is full of crap. Yes, I am one of the contributing authors to the final product.
Question of the day: Is John an abusive modern-day demagogue? He absolutely hates dissent when it concerns his arguments, websites, book(s), etc. But another thing not mentioned often enough that John also hates seems to be any sort of dissent from those he appoints to his blog. On numerous occasions over the years, people have come and go from the Debunking Christianity author list, some for different various reasons, most because they have in some way or another, upset John. And he gets his revenge simply by (in the words of Matthew Green) "writing (them) off".
So who is the one individual to receive the boot this time? Is it Ed Babinski? Nope. Even if I were told this, I would doubt it only because Babinski has a subtleness to him, and a tedency to be a real brownose. Dr. Hector Avalos? Good guess, and it probably will happen someday, but for now John would consider him to be a reputable scholar, so long as he doesn't say anything in disfavor of John and his course of actions. So...JUST WHO IS IT? The answer: Harry McCall.
Yes, the same exact Harry McCall that went around here posting perverted and sexually deranged comments. The same Harry McCall who addressed me on this very blog as if he was still a "minsterial student." The same Harry McCall whose picture gave you the sense he might be a child sex offender, or as J.P. used to refer to him as "Chester the Molester." Hey, child rape isn't funny. True, but there's no arguing that Harry was a creep, and did resemble someone who might in fact have those types of "urges."
Someone will have to relay more of the specific details of what happened (although I doubt this ever being the case, mostly because of John's repetetive behaviors and his personality; secondily, for the reasons I will show down below), but it's true. As always, when hearing about such news, I quickly rush to DC or the Google search engine just like any other person would. Currently as of August 19, 2009, Debunking Christianity's list of authors now includes only the following names in their respective order:
http://www.blogger.com/profile/08974655354593831851
His short autobiography and personal details have been whiped out completely. Even his "Chester the Molester" face is gone. Why exactly? That's a question I would like to know myself. For now, we'll suppose that Harry's exile from DC has given him the indication that his internet career is otherwise useless without being a component of something in the New Atheist movement. But let's not get on the wrong foot about this issue: This isn't to sympathize or feel remorse for Harry. It's not even so much that John is an egotistical demagogue who makes appeals to a certain demographic for making profit. It might even be in John's moral favor for him to do this. Could it be that the reason why John severed ties is because Harry was a self-admitted stalker perhaps?
Oh wait....

DenCol has been banned as an ignorant abusive troll. I'm not exactly sure why he's here or what he actually believes, but for the most part he does not try to interact with us at DC. Once banned he starts another Blogger account and this process starts all over again. He has been banned as Rob, savedbygrace, tyler, Richard2, Rich386 and others. Right now he's commenting as Cool Running. He does not respect our wishes to go away and so he apparently does not think the Golden Rule should be followed when it comes to skeptics...Nonetheless, it's beginning to look to the first time visitor as if we are banning a whole lot of people. It's just one person! Fair warning to everyone. If you engage this troll you will be frustrated. I recomend just ignoring him. Or you can email him at dencollis@juno.com. As you can tell, I don't care for him at all.
Publicly posting someone's e-mail address to carry out retribution out on a supposed "troll"? Yeah John, there's nothing tasteless about that...
ADDED NOTE: JPH sent me this last word from Harry McCall, which sure enough is actually here on our very own blog. I made sure as always, to put emphasis on areas that I think really count:
Nice count Holdie, but as of July 27 I am no longer associated with either John Loftis or his DC blog. There will be no more 10% post from me or any posts from me on his blog; ever again.
My name is removed as a contributor and I have broken all contacts with him and his blog. I told him he could ban me from DC as I don’t give damn! Screw him!
If you two want to bitch and bash each other’s character brains out for a cash first, be my guess!
John and his ego blog are history for me!!
Well, well, well...the evidence just keeps piling up against John, even as he negligently spirals down a path of self-sabotage.

Land of Confusion: Message for the Generations
I've had something itching at me to go ahead and post two YouTube videos about the same exact song, that being "Land of Confusion". Originally written by the 80's band Genesis, and then the recent 2005 remake, by heavy metal rock-band Disturbed (although not perfect, one of the few contemporary rock bands which are concerned more with the quality of their songs and albums, and not the quantity).
The song's words are fairly easy to understand, and the message is made quite explicit: Our world is troubled by confused politics, hatred, and greed. This has been a message that has withstood the test of time, despite many of its leading speakers having been assasinated for suggesting controversial alternatives: Jesus, Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, among others, are all notable names, even though, in a historical context, it would be much like comparing apples and oranges.
So what does this amazing song have to do with John n' Friends: Their behaviors and actions have placed them under what could be considered as "questionable", in a way, that's making an understatement. You can just browse this very blog itself to find Harry McCall's comments in which he admits to committing to what could be perceived as an illegal act: Mainly, harrassing Mrs. Holding at her workplace via phone connection. But I also want to make it perfectly clear that this post is not exclusive to John and his gang, nor is it necessarily directed at them. This is a post which I want to use to let people think a little bit harder about how the world is operating today, and where it can head too if we are not too careful about its changes, and live in reckless carelessness. While I don't agree with some of the political imagery portrayed in these two videos, you can't deny that it's a song which depicts the sad reality of humanity and how we are so insistent within ourselves to create quarrels and conflicts which end in mindless bloodshed and result in utter destruction. Hopefully YouTube won't go ahead and decide it's time to remove these videos due to their bogus "copyright" claims that have been getting out there. Apparently it might have something to do with China's relationship with Google, as both are acting rather Communistic right now. Hey, why doesn't John go work for Google!?
Genesis (1987) original:
Disturbed (2005) remake:
And just to be fair to John, as he would like us to be, I'm also embedding this video, as it essentially bashes the Religious Right. Happy birthday, John!

"Proof Positive that ONLY Christians Can Have Morals and Ethics!" by Harry McCall (Debunking Christianity)
Here's some of the latest garbage coming from a Debunking Christianity contributor:
"Time and time again we atheists at DC are sternly informed that, without God, we atheists have no bases at all for morals and ethics which can ONLY come from God alone."
Harry...uh...first of fall, it's spelled "basis". More importantly, I think that if these types of comments are propping up on Loftus' blog (and there isn't much reason to doubt that they would from some commentators), they are not as direct as Loftus and the gang interpret them. Based on the article's ludicrous title, this is making an assumption of a belief held only by the most extreme of Christian fundamentalists. I don't see this sitting well with the mainstream Christian community.
Yes, most Christians believe that God alone is the source of morality. And the key word here, of course, is that God is the source, not a qualifying factor in terms of personal belief. Most Christians would also tell you that atheists can be good moral people, but that their lives are not fufilled without having some sort of connecting contact with what they consider to be "God." This does not imply that those without a God in their lives, are automatically moral people. Instead, it can be interpreted that because we are all human beings, our system of morals passed down throughout the ages has stemmed from God.
So earlier this afternoon Mr. McCall posts a news headline of a Christian minister acting "immorally." Reading this article will set the stage for humorous mockery:
Police Arrest Pastor for Allegedly Setting Fire to His Own Church
Church Previously Vandalized On Several OccasionsAnderson, SCMonday afternoon, Rev. Christopher Daniels, who is from Belton, was charged with second-degree arson. His bond was set at $25,000.The State Law Enforcement Division has joined the Anderson County Sheriff's Office in the investigation. In recent months, there have been incidents of graffiti and vandalism in the church that are still under investigation.Investigators said Blue Ridge Baptist was targeted by vandals four times at the end of 2008.In mid-December, gang symbols and hate-filled messages were left in the church's Sunday school building.Earlier that month, the same thing was done to the classrooms downstairs.Rev. Daniels is being investigated by the State Law Enforcement Division also as a suspect in the earlier vandalisms which caused over $20,000 worth of damage to the chruch.
It's funny that during these times McCall would conveniently pull up what would otherwise be a rather insignificant crime as compared to those of the recent week (forgive me for posting a link that hails from the UK but I'm rather lazy and decided to just copy and paste an article that Punkish from the TWeb forums posted in the March 2009 Screwballs thread):

Minister Shot Dead During Church Service
A minister has been shot dead during a church service by a gunman who then stabbed himself and two other people. The man walked down the aisle during the early morning service at the First Baptist Church in Maryville, Illinois, state police said. He exchanged words with senior pastor Dr Fred Winters, pulled out a .45 calibre handgun and shot the minister once in the chest, Master Trooper Ralph Timmins said. The gun jammed before the attacker could fire again, so he then pulled out a knife and stabbed himself...Mark Jones, a worship minister at the church added: "We have no idea what this guy's motive was. We don't know him."
Oooooooh........seems like da' moral argument backfires again! Owch, that hurts!
I bet McCall wasn't so interested in sharing this, now was he? It seems that many recent shootings have been the result of crazy people going after the ordained. And all McCall comes up with is a reverend committing arson? Somehow I don't believe that McCall is unaware of these shootings, but he would rather ignore them willingly in hopes of convincing himself they never happened. Or, he clearly lives under a rock.
At either rate, destroying your own safe-haven and then spontaneously murdering a pastor along with their church-participants would be like comparing apples and oranges. Of course, I only say that in terms of which is the heaviest on the weight scale.
